Jindie Nails “Nude Beach”

Hey everybody, I’m here with my review of the week! I’m using Jindie Nails “Nude Beach” this week to match my friend’s 21st birthday party theme. It’s formal but because I did not want to go with the usual single colour polish, the nude crelly base makes the polish neutral so it actually matches.

Nude Beach is a nude crelly base filled with an abundance of colours! I see neon pink, neon orange, neon blue, neon purple, neon yellow and neon green hex of all sizes, white stars, metallic sand coloured sparkling hex and iridescent hex! I am soooo in love with it!

I used 3 thin layers for it to reach full opacity. Thin layers is good as it helps prevent the polish from blotching together especially since the glitter causes uneven surfaces. I use OPI base coat and Sally Hansen shiny top coat. The top coat helps to even out the surfaces, and also to keep the glitters intact. The glossy effect left by Sally Hansen is awesome! Love it to bits!

In the sunlight.

What makes me love the glitters more is that it glows in the dark! After the party, my friends and I headed over to Zouk and the lights totally did my nails justice. Didn’t take a picture because my camera cannot capture the way it glows in the dark. Pardon the bamboo poles behind the 2nd picture. I could only get the most sunlight at my kitchen window. 😛

Also, with the new video feature in instagram, it’s really fun to do my swatch in video form! Follow me on instagram and twitter to be up-to-date with my reviews (: do leave your comments and feedbacks, good and bad to help me improve my reviews!

Thanks for reading and do stay tune for my next review!

Grandma had Fun Intended! :D

Hey girls! I am so sorry for the lack of post because I have been really busy that I am dead tired when I reach back home so it’s just shower and sleep immediately! Tonight’s post will be about last Thursday when I spent a day of Fun Intended with my maternal grandma. Nothing much. Just spent the entire day doing a little manicure for her. (:

I had brought along 3 different nail polishes for her to choose from. One bright pink, one purple and Jindie Nails Fun Intended. My grandma is coming 87 years old, and she chose “Fun Intended”. I guess when dementia hit her, she started behaving like a young girl again, choosing loud colours. Well, being a sensible granddaughter, Fun Intended was indeed too loud for an old lady, but that does not mean she can’t have it on her nails. Hence, I used OPI’s Planks alot as the main colour. It’s a light pastel purple which looks pretty decent on an old lady’s hand (: Added some snowflakes to brighten her nails up too. Then, I used “Fun Intended” as a contrast colour on the 4th finger for an accent nail (: And the results:

Fun Intended on the 4th finger

Tada! Pretty sweet right? Fun Intended is a really funky polish to play around with. A bright pastel neon pink crelly filled with a mix of neon orange, neon pink, metallic magenta, metallic orange, metallic pink, metallic silver and tiny white hex, short bars, dots and stars! Not forgetting my favourite, neon pink butterflies!! I used a total of 3 coats on my own hands and my grandma’s 4th finger for it to reach full opacity. The 3 layers I used a rather thin because due to my lack of practice, thin layers can actually help prevent the final touch to look blotchy, especially when there is so much glitter goodness in the bottle.

Best shot of Fun Intended

My final results was a little blotchy because while trying to fish out for the butterflies and star, I ended up having too much polish on the brush and hence I had a thick layer on 1 or 2 of my fingers. So thin layers are important. You can also use a toothpick to stir the bottle first to fish for the bigger glitters (: I used Sally Hansen’s Top coat and it did help to smooth out the surface.

Really a bottle of goodness! It was such a nice polish to use for bonding session with my grandma. Yupp with had the Fun Intended (if you get what I mean hehe!) Do comment on the post, good or bad, because either way I can learn and improve. Also, do follow me on twitter and instagram, I will post updates on when a post is live! Follow my blog as well if you wish to stay in tune with my reviews. Lots of love to those who follow me! Thank you for your support ❤

So much purple!

Hey girls! I was so busy last week due to a dear friend’s birthday hence my nail post was delayed! But don’t worry, I will definitely post the next review on time so that means this week is double the polish! ^^

Last Thursday, my mum spent some bonding time with my little sister and I. We went to this little nail parlour for classic manicure and pedicure! The staff were so friendly! They kept chatting with us, keeping us occupied as we sat throughout their service. Thumbs up for that!

The colour I chose for my hands was “A Grape Fit”. The manicurist used 2 coats for it and it looks perfect! Totally in love with it!

For my toes, I chose “Can You Dig It?” by OPI as well (:

20130610-162106.jpg
The manicurist used 2 coats of that colour as well. It’s a colour that gives a slightly more matured look. Very elegant and I think it would look lovely on the hands as well.

I like to choose different colours for the hands and feet because I like the contrast feel from both colours. “A Grape Fit” gives a younger and fresher look due to the light shade and “Can You Dig Itv?” contrasts that. Really lovely mix (:

Though this polish was not painted by me, but I believe every girl deserves to be pampered once in awhile. So take a day off and head down to a nearby nail parlour and just let the professionals pamper your hands and feet. It’s totally therapeutical (:

So stay tune for my next post! It will be painted by myself this time hehe. Do leave your comments and feedback!

Nail art for Aileen’s 21st!

Hey guys! Last Saturday I went to my dear friend, Aileen’s 21st birthday party. The theme of her party is “Gathering Blue”. So it inspired my little mix of colours on my nails. I mixed 4 different polish: pastel white from Etude House, Grescian Sea from Cuccio, Pastel blue from Eleanor, and Polar Ice from China Glaze.

Left to right(Top): Etude House's white, Cuccio's Grescian Sea, Eleanor's pastel blue, China Glaze's Polar Ice.

Left to right(Top):                                                        Etude House’s white, Cuccio’s Grescian Sea,
Eleanor’s pastel blue, China Glaze’s Polar Ice.

The patterns are extremely inconsistent hence the fun! I did 5 different designs. I did something like racing stripes using the white polish, with Grescian Sea as stripes on my left thumb, and Eleanor’s Blue on my right little finger. On my index fingers on both hand, I did the design that MissJenFabulous taught on her “Nail Art for Beginner” video. I will link that at the end of my post. I did a french-like manicure on my left middle and right ring finger, alternating the blue and white. My left ring finger and right thumb has Grescian Sea base with a stroke of white across the entire nail. Last but not least, my right middle and left little fingers are painted with Grescian Sea and Eleanor’s Blue respectively, both with a layer of Polar Ice over it.

Taken on the bus to Legoland hehe!

Taken on the bus to Legoland hehe!

Although there is no picture painted on any of the nails, the colours mix together gives me a sense that I am at the beach with a clear sky. White would represent the clouds, Eleanor’s Pastel Blue would be the clear sky, and Grescian Sea, well, the sea! HAHA! Very simple and completely up to your imagination. Swipe one stroke there, one stroke there. You don’t need to be an expert in nail painting to create fantastic art. (:

I don’t really have time to try out alot of MissJenFabulous’s nail art designs, but do check out her videos at http://youtube.com/user/MissJenFabulous She has amazing nail art tutorials whether you’re good at nail art or you’re just starting! Look out for her “Nail Art for Beginners” series. It’s really helpful! Here’s the link to the design I did on my index fingers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFtkkiV8HrI

Hopefully I will be able to do more polish reviews, probably on Thursdays because right now I am having a netball competition so by Tuesday, my nail polishes will be off as my games are on Wednesdays! So do stay tune! Follow me on twitter and instagram to be up-to-date with my posts! The links are on the right —> Also, feel free to ask me any questions on ask.fm. You can ask by filling up the form on the right as well –>

I recently got 3 pretty colours from my friend Sherilyn (nailsbysherilyn.wordpress.com)! Can’t wait to review them! (: I will see you guys soon! ❤

Face Shop and Etude House: First attempt at nail art.

Hey girls! I decided to go a little out of my comfort zone and try some nail art with my own imagination (which is often inspired by others). So I am not saying that I came out with this design entirely on my own because it probably is a mix and match of tutorials I have watched online.

Ok, because I recently just started swatching, I do not have alot of pastel colour polishes. Hence, I had to make do with the pink and purple which I got from Face Shop and I managed to snatch up a white colour polish from Etude House. There is no name for this design because I was watching a korean drama while simply painting diagonal and vertical lines across my nails.

I started off with a white base on all my nails and I used the pastel pink first. Diagonal, vertical, left, right, I was simply just mixing any kind of nail art I chanced upon on any social media platform. I let the pink dry almost completely before painting the pastel purple over and that is the outcome. I use OPI base coat and Sally Hansen’s Mega Shine top coat. I personally would prefer a better brand to get for the pastel colours because Face Shop and Etude House are better in their facial products, probably that is why their polish are a little streaky and I took awhile to even out the layers on my nails.

It’s my very very first attempt at nail art, not nail stickers and hence it’s a little messy. I had trouble steadying my hands to keep the diagonal colours straight. But, practice makes perfect so I really hope the next time I have another nail art post, it will produce a better result and neater nails. 😛

Jindie Nail’s Princess Consuela Bananahammock

Hello! So this is my swatch of Jindie Nail’s Princess Consuela Bananahammock! I took the pictures in white light of my bedroom.

Princess Consuela Bananahammock is from the series ‘Friends’ when Phobe changed her name to this hilarious name! It is a bright yellow crelly (me likey!) with a whole lot of small matte satin red, neon pink, orange hex glitter, medium neon orange and neon dark orange hex glitter and matte red tiny star glitters. I used 3 coats for this polish before it was fully opaque.

The hex glitters, both small and medium, weren’t that difficult for me to fish them out. To prevent my nails from looking too bulky with overload of glitters, I tried to make the first 2 layers as clear of huge glitters as I could. For the 3rd layer, I made the bottle do headstands so that I can fish out the bigger glitters and hence the results. Hexes aren’t difficult to fish, it is the stars that are difficult. I only managed to get one on my left thumb. LOL!

Cuccio’s Grescian Sea

Hello everybody! This is my first ever swatch because I am getting hooked onto nail polish thanks to my lovely friend Sherilyn. Do check out her nail blog http://nailsbysherilyn.wordpress.com and follow her on instagram @sherilynnnnnn

So I painted my nails this beautiful sea-green/teal colour a few days ago but I was too busy to swatch it due to mother’s day and lotsa birthday events. I bought this brand, Cuccio, at a cart shop at park mall. It was their last day there so thank goodness I had facial and managed to chance upon such a lovely brand!

Image

Cuccio’s Grescian Sea

I had China glaze’s Polar Ice over it because I love glitters hehe. Cuccio has awesome formula. The polish is thick but smooth so I only needed one coat. It simply just smoothens out on it’s own, no bubbles, nothing! It is amazing! Cuccio has other amazing colours and even though the shop is not at park mall anymore, they have it online! http://www.aynws.com. They provide delivery to the doorstep and you can make payment on delivery! I honestly believe bulk orders are the best so after my exams I will start a spree for Cuccio nails! More updates next time!

I know this isn’t much of a swatch but I tried to paint my nails with Jindie nails Spring Chic collection and I have trouble getting use to the large glitters! Hahaha! But don’t fret! Once I’ve gotten used to it, I will do more swatches on indie nail polish!

Till next time!

Lotsa love,
Carmen Sarah!
